A Few Resources for Perspective
As many of us know, perspective is grounding. It can help avoid spiraling into excess negativity. It is my belief that we could all use more perspective. With that in mind, here are a few resources that I’d like to share with you that can help (and that have helped me).
→ One of my favorite podcasts: Ear Hustle, which explores the daily realities of life inside prison, shared by those living it, as well as stories from the outside, post-incarceration. Recently, they released an episode about lockdown in prison which looks a little different than lockdown for the rest of us, and I found it to be a valuable listen.
→ To Anyone Who Thinks They’re Falling Behind in Life — An amazing article I read probably 3 years ago, that I regularly think back on.
→ Some lovely music I recently discovered. I don’t know if I can scientifically prove that nice music changes my world view, I think you’ll just have to take my word on that one. Thank you to the person that shared this artist with me on Instagram (I can’t remember who it was exactly, I’m sorry!)
→ 2 films, The Pianist (which is gut-wrenching, but has made me grateful for the life I have) & I Heart Huckabees (much more lighthearted and comedic but touches on so much existentialism, I love it).
→ To round this short list off, I’ll throw in a couple of playlists I recently created too, if you’re looking for new music to listen to.
Bonus
I just launched a new channel that I invite you to subscribe to. It’s going to be a space for experiments and different kinds of videos. I’m calling it “No Backup Plan.” Here is the first video, on perception, and choosing the world that we live in.
Thanks for reading!
